About this tea

Hojicha is a heartwarming roasted green tea perfect for chilly evenings and outdoor sipping.

Our Hojicha is a “kukicha,” which means “twig tea.” Kukicha is made by picking the twigs and stems of tea plants and roasting them until they take on a warm bronze color. Our Hojicha is grown at 600m altitude in Kawan, Shimada, Japan.

When steeped, this Hojicha produces an amber liquor and smells of roasted chestnuts. The tasting notes are woody and savory, alongside roasted nuts and barley. This is a full-bodied tea with a smooth, lightly honeyed finish.

Hojicha is a great option for drinkers who want a rich tea without astringency or bitterness. Its cozy flavor will please drinkers who love coffee or cocoa. Hojicha is also particularly low in caffeine and is favored as a nighttime brew.

We suggest pairing Hojicha with baked sweets like cookies. For a treat, try it with a splash of milk and a drizzle of honey.
