About this tea

Kabusecha is a fresh, savory green tea that embodies the overgrowth of wet coastal landscapes.

Our Kabusecha green tea comes from the Yabukita cultivar. The leaves are harvested at an altitude of 600m in the village of Sagara, Kumamoto and crafted by Mr. Seiichi. The tea is shaded during growth and then steamed, which helps produce its deep green color and rich umami flavors.

The dry leaves of our Kabusecha resemble blades of grass. The aroma is very grassy with hints of umami and sweet peas that remind us of new spring growth. When steeped, Kabusecha creates a hazy, yellow-green liquor. The taste is green and grassy with a hint of kombu seaweed. Our Kabusecha has a creamy, brothy quality which makes it particularly satisfying and nourishing, like a cup of hot soup.

Kabusecha is the perfect tea for a rainy afternoon. We like it as a comfort tea on days when we feel under the weather.

For a unique snack, try pouring Kabusecha over seasoned white rice.

This selection was produced without pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers and harvested in March 2024.
